My work aims to please my inner child, as I explore themes of beauty, nature, and
nostalgia through oil painting, ceramics, and photography. I employ vibrant colors to

draw attention and use organic shapes to enhance the flow of the viewer's eyes around

my compositions. My art allows me to translate my fears and thoughts into the physical

world, as it embodies my experiences in reality, transitioning from childhood to
adulthood. Through graphic design, I continue to express playfulness while catering to
an edgy, modern aesthetic. Like my fashion sense, I want my art to intrigue the viewer,
inviting them to take a second look at the details in place.

My art appeals to those attracted to minimalist decorative pieces with a functional
purpose. I combine my interest in jewelry and ceramics to create unique trays that can
still be appreciated standing alone. When I oil paint or sculpt in ceramics, it is a slow
and gentle process because I prefer the appearance of clean smooth textures, as it
may take away from the overarching theme of beauty. I work in these mediums
because I have control over the finished product. However, imperfections do not matter
when I create based on nature because they represent reality.

He Said, She Said is a digital photo illustration inspired by the song Rumors, a
collaboration between two of my favorite musicians, Sabrina Claudio and ZAYN. Music
drives my art, allowing me to construct concepts based on song lyrics. I reference
Claudio's lyrics, "And I heard that you said you’ve seen me in your dreams” placing
ZAYN at the top left corner to portray the thought of him on her mind, as much as she’s
on his. I push this notion, playing with motion blur and the soft blending tool to evoke a
hazy memory. There’s a particular scene in the music video showing a close-up of
Claudio’s face as she’s walking past fuzzy TV screens. The screens illuminate her skin
projecting a mixture of pink, teal, and orange, influencing my choice of color on the
poster. At the bottom, I hand-wrote the word rumors as smoke to play on the meaning
of the word; the smoke spreads and can cause harm. My digital piece combines playful
and edgy, using a warm and cool mixed color palette with the considered placement of
the musicians to depict the sensual topic.

My creations fit with contemporary art as I practice to push my use of colors and
movement to enhance the emotion in my work. I use various shades of pink, blue,
green, and purple for aesthetic purposes, rather than to portray emotions. I have

always felt my emotions deeply and never knew how to express them, therefore, I
expose my vulnerability through my art more frequently in contrast to my past work.
Texture plays an important role in my art practices and to my advantage I use it to
evoke my audience to battle an urge to physically connect with my work. I experiment
with thicker oil paint to push the boundaries of two-dimensional art and bring life to the
canvas.
